A Day of Deals
15 Feb
Hello, hello and happy Friday! Are you gearing up for a 3-day weekend? Unfortunately, I have school on Monday; it’s a snow make-up day. But ‘ya know what? Next weekend I’ll be in Florida and I took Monday and Tuesday off from work so it’s all good!
Thank you all so much for your kind comments on yesterday’s post. You all definitely helped to calm my nerves a bit! However, I texted my sister tonight a little freaked out that my longest distance has only been 10 miles!
Am I setting myself up for a disaster here? To be honest, I’m out of time so it’s really just too bad at this point! I immediately started googling “minimum training distance for a half marathon” and a few plans max out at 10, so I’m hoping I’ll do okay. Let’s face it, I’m not racing to win, so as long as I finish – regardless of the time – I’ll be happy. Can you tell I’m going to be a bundle of nerves this week?
Aaanyway… we had a half day at school today and although the kids were a little unruly (as is always the case on an early dismissal day!) nothing could get me down because I had lots of fun errands to run with my free afternoon! A nice bonus? The weather was absolutely gorgeous and spring-like!
My first stop was Athleta at King of Prussia for my half marathon outfit! My sister had given me a gift card for Christmas, so although the clothing isn’t cheap, I was able to cushion the blow a bit.
I ended up getting a layered, ruffled running skirt (in black) and a ruched, short-sleeved top (in bright pink).
My next stop was the Apple store! As I’ve mentioned before, I had been saving up for an iPad mini and today was the day.
I’m obsessed already! With all of my birthday money + gift cards and other random savings, the iPad and a cover only cost me about $30!!!
My next stop was Starbucks, where I had a birthday reward to redeem. I ordered a grande vanilla spice frappuccino.
Ericka? Encha? Close enough…
On my way home from KOP, I made a pit-stop at the outlets because I had a few coupons for LOFT… a $20 rewards coupon + a $15 birthday coupon. I ended up getting three tops, a necklace, and earrings for around $50. Not bad, right?
Then, on a whim, I stopped at the Vera Bradley outlet to see if they had any President’s Day sales going on. My sister and I don’t want to check luggage for our trip, so I needed a large duffle bag. Their duffle bags were priced at $70 and they had a 30% off sale… sold. THEN, at the checkout, the cashier told me since it was my birthday month I got an additional $20 off. I walked out spending $30 on a large duffle.
What a day! I love shopping and spending money, but I love it even more when I get to save money.
What’s the last great deal that you got? I’m pretty pleased with myself about that duffle bag.

LOFT is my favorite! That’s a really cute necklace!! Love good deals.

Thanks! I thought so too; I need to work on my accessorizing!
Oh my gosh you got some GREAT deals. I have one of those duffels and it cost me about $100!

I know! I think the $70 is the base outlet price and then with the other discounts… I was a pretty happy camper!
Very jealous of your shopping deals, especially the Vera duffle!
A friend of mine, who has run marathons before, told me if you’ve run 10 miles, you can do a half marathon. The highest mileage I’ve run in training for the Princess Half is 11.5, then my heel started hurting. So, don’t worry! If you’ve done 10 miles, you should be good to go!
Last, how’s the vanilla spice frap? I’ve wanted to try it, but I feel like it would either be really good or really disappointing.

Thanks Amy! That makes me feel better! I really liked the frap! I had tried the hot vanilla spice latte too and I really liked it! The “spice” just adds a little something extra!
You’ll definitely be fine if you maxed out at 10 miles! The crowds and everything will push you through the last 3 miles without a DOUBT. Seriously, you will be amazed at how much your adrenaline will push you through it!
Those deals are amazing and WTH!? I didn’t know you got extra money off at the outlets! Is that for all of the stores or just VB?
Ipad mini = hate you. but not really <3

I think it was just at VB! She got all my info and when she asked for my birth month she told me about the discount!
Wow, that’s an AWESOME Vera Bradley deal!! I absolutely love my large duffel, I use it all the time.

wow what awesome deals! I can’t wait to hear what you think of the ipad mini! You will do great in Florida! (:
I want to go shopping with you, those are awesome deals! I love Vera Bradley, had no idea you got a discount during your birthday month. I am new to running, very new, but my new trainer told me you don’t need to have run the full 13 before the race, your adrenalin and all the non long miles you have logged will help you! I know its just one persons opinion but hopefully it helps to ease your nerves some.

I don’t know if the discount is at all Vera Bradley stores or just the outlet, but I was pretty thrilled nonetheless!
Uh….I got two bags of cough drops for $2.50. Does that count?
lol sure, why not?!
I’m glad you got your mini!
And I’ve never run more than 10 before a race. I think it just makes you burn out (if you’re like me). You’ll do great!!!!

Holy cow you got some great deals! For my half marathon, my training plan only called for a 10 mile run and honestly, it was enough! Your adrenaline will carry you the last 3.1 miles if you can get to that point!

Happy/relieved to hear that!
I LOVE Ann Taylor LOFT, especially for purchasing all of my work attire. Their clothes are so cute and the prices are generally very reasonable because they almost always have a great sale going on. It looks like you got some fabulous purchases. I would absolutely wear everything that you bought!

I’m so jealous of all your deals! I LOVE Vera Bradley with a passion. I have so many purses/accessories, but I really need a tote or gym bag.

I also love the clothes you picked out at Loft. Love that store! And Vera Bradley is so fun. I love those bags. Nice choice
I always love getting great deals (especially on things that are usually a bit out of my price range!)
