Sunrise Smoothie

24 Jan

This weather is getting to me.

Last night, I had planned on going to the gym to get in a short training run, but the thought of leaving my house – and venturing out in the frigid temps – was the last thing I wanted to do. All I want to do is put on as many layers as possible and hide under the covers until April.

Okay, I’m being a bit dramatic here. (And sadly, that’s not an option.)

The other day, I blended up a fruit smoothie that took me right back to the warmer months and I swear I actually felt happier while drinking it! Three cheers for summertime flavors!

Sunrise Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 ice cubes
  • 1/2 c. oats
  • 6 oz. peach Greek yogurt (or you could sub in another flavor, such as pineapple)
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 c. milk (enough to get everything moving)
  • ~10 drops of orange NuStevia

Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients and blend!

What’s that? You don’t have any NuNaturals NuStevia on hand? Stay tuned friends – you’ll have a chance to win some! ;-)

Is the weather getting to anyone else? Or are you cool with the cold? I have been in the funk to trump all funks this week and I’m blaming Mother Nature.

I have such a hard time drinking smoothies in the winter – they are just too cold. . . but I suppose, I just need to crank up the fireplace and do it because they are so so good! I am fine with the cold weather – don’t get me wrong, I am still going to complain! But I would much rather be curled up on the couch than out and about!
