Top Chef – Restaurant Wars

21 Jan

While I spent the majority of my day working on stuff for school (boo!), I did manage to find some time to do a little DVR catch-up. First on my list? Top Chef!

I had two episodes to watch, and both were part of Restaurant Wars.

Episode 10

As always, this episode started off with a Quickfire Challenge that required chefs to utilize ginger. I’ve never cooked with ginger, have you? Brooke, Lizzie, and Stefan were the top three cheftestants with Brooke (my girl!) taking the win and earning immunity.

For the Elimination Challenge, chefs had to develop their own restaurant concept. The top two chefs would be the leaders for the “real” Restaurant Wars challenge. These two chefs ended up being Kristen and Sheldon. Kristen’s concept was a classical French restaurant, while Sheldon’s was Filipino-inspired. Micah was sent home for his uninspired (at least in the judges’ eyes) raw restaurant idea.

Episode 11

The two winners from episode 10 had to choose from the remaining chefs to be on their team for Restaurant Wars. Kristen chose Josie, Brooke, and Lizzie and Sheldon worked with Stefan and Josh.

bravo, top chef

After visiting both restaurants, it seemed that the judges preferred the food from Sheldon’s restaurant – Urbano – but the service of Kristen’s restaurant – Atelier Kwan. Ultimately, Kristen and her team ended up on the bottom.

I couldn’t believe that Kristen pretty much stepped up and took the blame for Josie’s mistake; it was time for Josie to go! She dodged the bullet again this week, and Kristen was sent home.

Here’s a look at what you can expect from Wednesday’s episode:

I can’t believe it’s already down to 6 competitors!

If you’re watching this season, did you think it was time for Josie to go home? I feel like the judges keep giving her free passes for no good reason!

I don’t watch Top Chef but it sounds like a fun show to watch :) I love the Food Network so I’m sure I’d fall in love with this show too! I wonder if it is on Hulu? That’s what Marty and I use since we don’t have a television.

I’ve seen Rachael Ray use it a few times! lol Other than that, I’ve got no experience with it… and I hardly count watching someone use it on tv as “experience”!
