WIAW – First Day of 2013
2 Jan
Hi there.
I assume most of you joined me in heading back to work today. I’ll be honest – I wasn’t looking forward to it, but it turned out to be not so bad. I did have a nagging headache that I couldn’t seem to get rid of, but on the bright side of things, there’s only two days left in the work week. I could get used to 3 day weeks!
It feels like it’s been forever since I last participated in What I Ate Wednesday!
I managed to photograph most of my eats from New Year’s Day, so let’s take a peek!

After our 4 mile run yesterday morning, Chris and I were ready for breakfast but neither of us a) felt like making something or b) cleaning up afterwards. Enter: Dunkin’ Donuts! The veggie eggwhite flatbread is one of my go-to breakfasts from there, and I added the Cho for a little something extra since I was quite hungry!
Lunch/Dinner – Pork with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, applesauce, a roll, and water
Well this looks awfully beige, doesn’t it?
Chris and I went to my aunt and uncle’s house for New Year’s Day lunch/dinner. Peas were a veggie option, but I’m not a huge fan of peas so I passed. I went back for seconds of potatoes and ate another 1/2 a roll.
Dessert went unpictured, but I had a small piece of birthday cake (New Year’s Day is my aunt’s birthday) and a mini napoleon pastry. I actually wasn’t feeling that great (I think all the junk I had been eating finally caught up to me) so I kept my dessert portion on the smaller side. (Plus, I’m trying to cut back on sugar!)
I still wasn’t feeling that great when I got home, so I sipped on a diet ginger ale while I was working on my lesson plans for this week (nothing like waiting until the last minute!).
Did you have a traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner on New Year’s Day? I’ve never been big on sauerkraut, but I had to have a little for good luck in the New Year!

I’m with you on the sauerkraut! I only eat a little to get my goodluck!
But we do the traditional meal on New Year’s day also. Hope you’re feeling better!!
Yeah, sauerkraut really isn’t my thing! But I had more this year than I usually do!
mmm your breakfast looks delicious! We eat pork and sauerkraut here but I am not a fan so I just have 1 bite haha.

I’ve never heard of eating pork and sauerkraut for good luck. I’ve only heard of black eyed peas!

A lot of people are saying that! Maybe it’s not?! haha It is in my family!
Definitely not a sauerkraut person. It’s just one of those foods that no matter how many time I try it, I just can’t do it Ha Ha!

We have pork and sauerkraut but I just do not like sauerkraut at all! Pork is a totally different story though!

Yum! I saw that a local cupcake shop was offering PINK champagne cupcakes! Sadly, I didn’t have a chance to try one.
