WIAW – Week 33
14 Nov
Happy Wednesday everyone!
Yesterday, my mom emailed me a picture of a boxer that is currently waiting to be adopted at our local animal rescue league. As many of you know, Chris and I have been tossing around the idea of adding a “big” dog to our family. (Stewie will still remain our “little guy.”) Once I saw this boxer’s picture, I knew I had to pay him a visit.
First of all, the animal shelter is officially the saddest place in all the land. I about broke down into sobs. It’s so sad that they’re are so many well-behaved and adorable dogs that are abandoned and need good homes. I’ve talked about this on here before, but… rescue, rescue, rescue! The dog knows what you’ve done for it and will love you even more! Okay, I’m getting sidetracked…
Anyway, I found Crosby amongst the rest of the barking dogs and he was just quietly sitting in his kennel… no barking, no jumping. I asked an employee if I could take him outside, and he was such a good boy… very docile!
Chris is planning on taking Stewie up to the shelter to meet Crosby tomorrow (they were closed today). I have conferences after school until 5:30PM, but who knows, I might come home to an extra pooch!
I tried to snap a few photos of him, but he wasn’t feeling the camera.
I’ll be sure to update you all and let you know if he becomes a family member! Of course, Stewie rules all, so if they don’t jive then it’s a no-go… we’ll see.
**********
Now, a few What I Ate Wednesday photos (thanks to Jen at Peas and Crayons for hosting the link-up).

Is the combination of blackberries and peanut butter weird? Regardless, it tasted good!
Lunch – Leftover baked Caesar chicken + a (unpictured) blood orange Chobani
Recycled photo!
I enjoyed this chicken recipe so much when I made it last week that I had it again for dinner Tuesday night. It makes for very yummy leftovers.
Snack – Banana + ICE
I love the pomegranate-blueberry flavor!
Dinner – Baked penne
I made a few changes to the original recipe, but it was the same idea. I was so hungry when I got home from work – at 3:50PM – that I just decided to get started on dinner. Since this takes a little while to prepare/bake, I was all set to eat at 5 o’clock on the dot!
I still need to scrounge up some dessert.
Dog owners – 1 or 2+? Any benefit or downside to getting a second dog?

SO exciting! I have one little pup, but I have been playing around with the idea of adding another to the fam. Can’t wait to see if you get a new addition.

he will have to get used to the camera and seeing himself on your blog! (:
When I got Harleyyy I told myself he was the only dog I was ever going to get but when I found Hunter and they got along I was sold! Having two dogs is awesome. {although both of mine are small} They can entertain themselves so that one isn’t always up in your grill! Harleyyy has so much energy that we also thought getting another dog would make him calm down a little and well Harleyyy just runs out all of his energy with Hunter. He has definitely calmed down a lot! Hunter is the hyper one but he is still a puppy!
Some cons… sometimes they do get jealous of one another and its double the vet bills.. double the poop.. and double the food! Getting flea medicine all the time is annoying and expensive!
but I would definitely say do it! having two dogs is awesome! {When you go for walks each of you can have a dog! (: }
Hope this helps a little!

The extra cost is one of the reasons we’re most hesitant!
How exciting to be getting another dog

We’ve been talking about getting another one but I’m not sure when we’ll make the step. I think it’s a great idea to have two – they can keep each other company!

Go for two! It is not any more work – the only down sides are buying more dog food and picking up extra poo. But in my opinion, having two is awesome!

Aww, I think I would instantly be driving to the shelter too! We only have one pup (as you know) but I’ve always thought about getting a second. We watch my parent’s dog often and Sammy loves the company. Two just seems like a lot of work. LoL
But twice the love!
I agree! Stewie is so low maintenance, I don’t know how I’d do with a dog that requires tons of attention!
I rescued a dog before – I loved him so much and I am such a big fan of rescuing. It took a little while for my first dog, Spanky, to get used to the new dog (Mopsey) but after a while they learned to live in harmony

OMG he’s so cute! We had 2 dogs growing up and it worked for us. One was small (mini poodle) and the other was a little bigger (cocker spaniel). It was great because they kept each other company during the day and were easy to handle since they were different sizes.

I hope you guys get to bring Crosby home! That is such an exciting time. My mom was trying to convince me that we need another dog, but I say absolutely not until I have a house with a yard of my own.

Yeah, 2 dogs in an apartment would be a lot!
Oh my goodness, Crosby is adorable! Boxers are probably my second favorite dog breed next to labs.
I hope all goes well with Stewie and Crosby! We have two labs, and we’ve decided we always want two dogs. They are the best of buds, always keep each other company, and love to play together. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

My husband and I love labs too; that’s what his parents have!
What a cute, cute boxer! I really hope you get him– Stewie has to like him!
Will and I have talked about incorporating another little dog into our family, but decided that we’d also have to make sure Popcorn approves too. So needy, those little guys

My husband and I want a second dog but our current dog can be a bit of an asshole so it’s going to be a tough adjustment

Aweee Crosby is cute! I can’t wait to hear what you do with him, and even if you don’t rescue him, hopefully he finds a loving home!
