Weekend Recap – 10/7

7 Oct

Hello, hello!

How many of you lucky folks have off tomorrow? I wish I did! I actually have an in-service day, so I guess that’s better than nothing.

I didn’t take too many any photos this weekend, but I still wanted to catch you all up on what’s been going on around here!

Friday Night

Friday evening, my mom and I went to my cousin’s soccer game. We were there until about 7:00PM, and decided to get dinner afterwards. We went to Red Robin, where I got my go-to, the avo-cabo salad. It’s basically a cob salad with avocado. (Does anyone else hate stupid restaurant entree names?! I feel like such a dweeb ordering!)

After dinner, I came home and relaxed a bit before calling it an early night.

Saturday

First thing Saturday morning, I headed to the gym to complete my last training run of the week – more on that in a bit!

Afterwards, I rushed home to get ready for our nephew’s 3rd birthday party. That took up the better part of the day, and by the time Chris and I got home, we were ready for bed! I told Chris that it seems Saturdays are always my earliest bedtimes… guess I’m getting old.

Today

After 9:00AM mass, Chris and I headed to the grocery store. We stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts on the way home, where I couldn’t resist a reduced-fat blueberry muffin. I try to avoid muffins/bagels because – although they’re delicious – they just don’t fill me up! Regardless, it was a delicious treat.

This afternoon, Chris made chili and invited his parents over to watch the Eagles game. Sadly, the Eagles lost and even worse was the fact that I was doing school work the whole time they were over!

Now, my stomach is starting to grumble, and I’m thinking about trying to coerce Chris into running out for some sort of late dinner.

Half Marathon Training – Week 1

Week1

Here’s a little looksy at how week 1 of my training went.

The suggested training days from the plan are Tuesday and Thursday, but Monday and Wednesday work better for me. I was a few minutes shy of the goal time on both Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday, the bugs were horrendous and Thursday, it was hot and muggy. I’m hoping to complete the full 30 minutes both days this week, since the weather is predicted to be much cooler.

My 2 miles on Saturday were difficult! It was my first treadmill run since starting the training plan and I was having a lot of difficulty for some reason. My calves kept getting super tight and I took many, many walking breaks.

Tell me about one of your workouts from the weekend!

I took my pup with me for my interval run yesterday! It was great killing two birds with one stone! And I completely tuckered her out:)

I have a pug, so I don’t think he’ll be running with me any time soon! :-)

I wish I had more workouts this weekend! My husband and I were out of town for a wedding, and the most we got in was a walk around the neighborhood with the pup tonight. Better than nothing I guess, but I’m definitely in the mood to make up for it this week!

What a busy weekend, but a fun one to say the least. LOVE red robin. Have you ever tried their sweet potatoe fries? oh so good!

I had a great 12 mile run on Saturday, and Sundays are my rest days.

Great job w/ your training plan so far girl. Sometimes you gotta cut runs short. Way to complete the full 2 miles on saturday though girl :)

I don’t think I’ve ever had sweet potato fries from there! I’ll have to try them next time!

Good job for you following a training regiment! One of my “workouts” this weekend was running the Long Beach (CA) marathon. Keep up the good work with the running! You’ll rock your Half! :)

I just saw a personal trainer on Thursday (as part of a freebie at my gym). I’ve already repeated the workout she gave me twice!

Awesome! I always wish I could scrounge up some extra cash for a trainer session or two!

After pulling a calf muscle about 2 weeks ago and trying to give it time to heal before my half marathon in 2 weeks, I ran 3 pain free miles on Sunday!!!!
BTW I also hate dumb restaurant names… Especially the ones that are on the ‘healthy’ menu and make you look like you are on a diet! Annoying. And I love the cinnamon crunch bagel from Panera when we go there on the weekend for breakfast but hate that I am hungry like 30 minutes later!!!!!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who hates stupid menu item names! haha Ah, I’ve heard about the cinnamon crunch bagel at Panera; sounds amazing!

Congrats on completing your first week of training :) It’ll get easier and, truthfully, it is an accomplishment for even completing the weeks runs! Before you know it, two miles will be a cinch! :)

What half marathon are you running? I’m training for the Disney Princess Half in February, and based on your timely, it seems that you may be, too!
