Product Review: Vega Energizing Smoothie

17 Aug

Hey everyone; happy Friday!

I mentioned that I had plans to do a product review for Vega Energizing Smoothies quite a while ago, so I figured I’d better get on it!

The energizing smoothies are just one of the many products offered by Vega. Before discussing the smoothies, I wanted to share a little bit about the company for those who may not be familiar with them.

  • All of Vega’s products are made from “plant-based, whole food ingredients.”
  • Vega products are enzyme-rich, which helps with digestion and energy.
  • All of Vega’s products are dairy, gluten, and soy free and have no added colors, sweeteners, or artificial flavors.

Like I said, I was sent the Energizing Smoothie to sample, which comes in 5 varieties:

  • Tropical Tango
  • Choc-A-Lot
  • Vanilla Almond
  • Bodacious Berry
  • Oh Natural

Each smoothie packet provides:

  • 2 servings of veggies
  • 5 grams of fiber
  • 10 grams of protein
  • 1 gram of Omega-3

The great thing about these smoothies is how convenient they are. All you need to do is add water, shake, and enjoy. Admittedly, the idea of adding water to the smoothie mixture didn’t sound that appealing to me, so I used milk instead.

I also used the packets in more “traditional” smoothies, to which I added frozen banana, other fruit (like blueberries!), Greek yogurt, and peanut butter. This was my favorite way to use these packets, although breaking out the blender and arsenal of ingredients is definitely not necessary.

The one thing I recommend – no matter which way you’re enjoying these smoothies – is to make sure you shake or mix thoroughly. There’s nothing worse than getting a powdery after-taste from the mix, but this can easily be avoided by making sure everything is well-combined before sipping the smoothie.

These smoothie packets are perfect for busy people who are always on the go. I could definitely see myself keeping a stash in my desk drawer at work for whenever I need a quick pick-me-up, or even keeping a packet in my purse (I’ve always got emergency snacks in there!).

Have you ever tried any Vega products? Which Energizing Smoothie flavor most appeals to you?

LOVE the stats on that product—- The chocolate one appeals to me, and I would do the same thing, even if it did require me to whip out the blender and make a huge mess- at least it would be delicious!! :)

The mess that comes along with making smoothies is such a down-side! I hate having to clean my blender!

These look good – did they actually give you energy?

Eh, it’s hard for me to say because I am pretty unaffected my things that are supposed to be “energizing” (coffee, energy drinks, etc.). I guess I’d say I felt “refreshed.” :-)

I’ve heard all good things at first about Vega, and then I started hearing some not so good opinions. I guess I’ll have to make my own opinion soon :)

I think some flavors are much better than others, so it might depend of what you try!
