Product Review: Quaker Real Medleys

21 May

A few weekends ago, as I was clipping coupons, I came across an offer for Quaker Real Medleys oatmeal. It’s no secret that I love oatmeal in the mornings, so I cut out the coupon & kept my eyes peeled for the new product to hit shelves at my local Target.

I finally spotted the pre-portioned oatmeal this week & chose the summer berry flavor to try first.

To make the oatmeal, I simply filled the cup with water & put it in the microwave for 45 seconds (you can also make it with boiling water). I gave the oatmeal a stir & took it with me to eat at work.

I was pleasantly surprised by the taste & texture of this product. It’s very different from other pre-packaged oatmeal I’ve had in the past. The summer berry flavor included multigrains, strawberries, raspberries, & blueberries.

Besides the fantastic taste, I liked that this oatmeal had a simple ingredient list—nothing in there that I can’t pronounce. ;-)

My true test for this product was to see whether or not it kept me feeling full until lunch time. (I eat breakfast around 7:00AM & lunch around 11:00AM.) I pack my usual overnight oats with chia seeds, fruit, & nut butter to help keep my feeling satiated, but I was missing a few of those elements this morning. Happily, I didn’t experience any tummy grumbling & was perfectly content until lunch time.

I definitely want to try out the three other flavors – cherry pistachio, peach almond, & apple walnut.

If you’re like me & usually eat your breakfast on-the-go or at work, I definitely recommend giving this oatmeal a try!

Have you tried this product yet? Thoughts? Where do you typically eat your breakfast? I wish I had more time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast at home, but it’s just not feasible!

I tried the apple walnut one a couple weeks ago (also intrigued by the coupon, plus my grocery store doubles coupons up to $1) and it was delicious! Like you said, the texture is surprisingly good for instant. Most mornings I eat breakfast before work, but sometimes I’m running late and need something to eat when I get there. I grabbed another apple walnut, summer berry, and peach almond and stashed them in my desk. Thankfully I haven’t been running late recently, but I haven’t had an opportunity to try the other flavors yet that are sitting and waiting for me!

Getting a few of these to keep at work is a great idea; although, I’m almost done for summer so I’ll have to remember that for NEXT school year! :-)

I just heard about this oatmeal! I usually eat breakfast at home around 6am, and I’m so hungry by 11-12! This would be a great option to bring to work with me (or leave in my office) & just have a later breakfast! Then maybe I can sleep in a little more! :) are they expensive without a coupon?

I probably couldn’t make it 6 hours without eating! If I’m remembering correctly, they were $1.19 each at my Target.

Looks yummy! ….It would be a true test if it would keep me full till lunch as well.
I eat my breakfast at my desk while at school- same oats, greek yogurt, and chia to hold me over till lunch!

Great post! I just saw these advertised over the weekend in the Sunday paper, and they looked great. Thank you for concentrating on the ingredient list too! I usually eat breakfast at home, but those days I’m running late, this would be great to eat keep in the classroom. :)

I just saw these at the store! Good to know they are actually satisfying and delicious because I have to admit I was a bit skepitcal. I dont know if they can compare to the justins peanut butter cups you showed the other day, but i guess for a go-to breakfast this sounds alright ;-)

I have never tried this oatmeal before, but I can definitely see how it would be convenient for a girl on the go! I usually wake up about 20 minutes before I need to so that I can eat breakfast at home. It is annoying to wake up so early sometimes, but I find it relaxing to eat a yummy breakfast while watching the today show. My fav way to start my day!

Yum, this looks good! I havent seen these yet at my grocery store, but I’ll have to to keep my eyes peeled for it. I try to eat breakfast at home, but I’d probably say about 25% of the time I’m running late and have to bring it to work with me. My coworkers always poke fun at me when I do though, so I prefer to eat it at home!
