Weekend Rewind
29 Apr
How can it be Sunday evening already? I know, I know, I think I start every Sunday post that way… but seriously! It feels like it was just Friday evening (my favorite time of the week!).
My Saturday morning started off with a 60-minute spin class. I’ve admittedly been a little lax with my workouts lately, so it felt good to get some solid exercise in!
After class, I ran to Starbucks to pick up an iced coffee & “perfect oatmeal” for breakfast.
As I was adding some sugar & cream to my coffee, I noticed these little gems:
Has anyone ever seen these honey packets before? I hadn’t! I snagged two, figuring they’d be good to use in my overnight oats during the work week. (I definitely wanted to snag more than two, but didn’t want to draw attention to myself.
)
I spent the better part of my Saturday cleaning. It had been quite a while since our apartment had a thorough cleaning. Chris was at work all day Saturday, so I went all out & a few hours later had a nice, clean place… phew!
Once Chris was home from work, I asked him if he’d be interested in going to see The Hunger Games. I read the novel last summer, but had yet to see the movie. We both really enjoyed it; definitely a good film adaptation in my opinion!
While at the movies, I ate a box of sour gummy worms… yum! Lucky for me, there weren’t many pieces in the box. While sort of a rip off, at least it insured that I didn’t down a day’s worth of calories in one sitting!
Before heading off to bed last night, I prepped some overnight oats to enjoy while skimming the paper & clipping coupons this morning. (That’s right folks; overnight oats are not just for weekdays!)
This bowl looked oddly similar to the stuff I bought at Starbucks yesterday:
The only difference was some semisweet chocolate chips I added to the mix.
Soon, I headed off to church, then ran a few errands including a Petco, Target, & grocery store trip.
After a little bit of time at home, Chris & I headed off to see the house I mentioned in Friday’s post. We really, really loved it, but I don’t want to say too much & jinx it!
Afterwards, we went to Chipotle to pick up some dinner. I was long overdue for a burrito bowl.
It was just as good as I remembered!
Now, I’m finishing up some laundry & getting ready to relax & read my current book (11/22/63). Gotta rest up for another week!
What are your favorite oatmeal mix-ins? If I’m going to eat oatmeal everyday (I can’t get enough!) I could at least try some new add-ins!

weekends always seem to fly by, don’t they?! my favorite oatmeal mix-ins are smashed bananas, chia seeds, chocolate chips, granola, and/or peanut butter on top.

Smashed bananas sound good!
I love peanut butter and some jam in my oatmeal!

I’ve never tried jam before!
All weekends are too short
Personally, I’d be in favor of having somewhat longer work days and a 3-day weekend every weekend… but AFTER I’m done being a teacher. I don’t want to know what my students would be like after 10 hours in school!
I love mixing berries in my oats – it’s the best! And PB.
This may be a stupid question, but I’ve only been to chipotle a few times, and I always feel kind of rushed to order so I don’t ask any questions – but what is the difference between a salad and a burrito bowl there?
Have a great start to your week!

I don’t think there’s much of a difference actually!
I don’t think that burrito bowls “traditionally” have lettuce in them & I don’t think that salads are supposed to have the rice in them. BUT, since it’s a “build your own” set-up, they pretty much add whatever you want to either option!
It was a short weekend- but I think that towards the end of the year they all seem so stinking short! — the end is in sight though! Woop-Woop!
The husband and I went to see it last weekend after I finished the first book. I do think it was a great adaptation- the husband liked it too! Win-win!
….Oatmeal- almond extract & greek yogurt! Mmmmm!

My husband liked it too!
I wish you the best with the house! I love strawberries in my oats…and of course any sort of nut butter!

Thanks Nikki!
What toppings were in the Starbucks oatmeal? It looks delicious!

They give you individual packets of brown sugar, dried fruit, & mixed nuts!
Your overnight oats look awesome! My favorite mix in is peanut butter…takes it to a whole new level!

Agreed!
Ugh..I wish the weekends felt like they lasted longer haha. I hope you’re enjoying 11/22/63!!! I LOVED it and was so sad when it ended. My favorite oatmeal mix-ins are usually a banana, peanut butter, and cinnamon!

I always forget about cinnamon! Definitely adding some tomorrow morning!
I agree about Hunger Games. I thought it was a great and mostly accurate adaptation. I like flaked coconut in my oats, plus the healthy fat of coconut keeps me full until lunch!

That’s a great idea! Too bad I don’t really like coconut!
I can’t wait to see The Hunger Games. I don’t usually like to see movies in theaters (which explains my delay in seeing it), but I feel like that one might be best on a big screen.

It was great! Chris & I are big movie theater-goers either (we couldn’t remember the last one we saw!) but I think this was worth the trip!
I LOVED The Hunger Games (the book AND the movie)! Also, I just wanted to reassure you that I’m TOTALLY that person who grabs an extra handful of honey/ketsup/peanut butter/etc packets from restaurants. You never know when you may need them!!

Glad I’m not alone!
I love all the suggestions for oatmeal mix-ins. It’s my go-to breakfast almost every morning so I’m always down for a new flavor combo. Peanut butter is my favorite addition!
I love pb, too!
