The Turkey Bacon that Never Was
27 Apr
Happy Friday, friends! Ready for the weekend? I am!
This past Sunday, right before I started meal-planning, I came across this recipe from Sarah. (If you’re not reading Sarah’s blog, it’s a must! Every single recipe looks absolutely delicious!)
I had been wanting to make turkey burgers, & the recipe required so few ingredients that I decided to give it a go.
Turkey bacon fail #1.
I finally got around to making them last night, but for some reason I was feeling too “lazy” to prep the turkey bacon to top the burgers. I figured the burger would be tasty on its own (it was!) & simply added ketchup & mustard to my whole wheat bun.
I had also planned to roast some potatoes (or at least bake some Alexia frozen fries!) but my hunger took over & I settled for some barbeque Popchips.
Fast forward to today… I decided that after work, no matter what, I was finally going to treat myself to a little shopping. I’ve been dying to go shopping for some new spring clothes (I even have some gift cards to spend!) but I just haven’t been able to find the time for it.
I first stopped at Finish Line where I picked up some desperately-needed new sneakers. What do you think?
Side story: As I was deciding on what pair of shoes I wanted to try, one of the salesmen came up to me & told me he thought the pair I was looking at was ugly. Hmmm… kind of rude & counter-productive to his job, but thanks for the fashion tip friend!
(And don’t worry, I had another worker actually help me!)
My next stop was Old Navy, but sadly I didn’t find anything that really grabbed me. Old Navy is usually hit-or-miss with me, & today it was a miss! I had to quickly stop to pick up a baby shower gift, then I was off to Target. I got a cute, navy wrap dress, as well as new workout shorts & a workout top. I really need clothes for work, but I was sucked in by those darn $9.99 C9 items!
Anyway, by the time I finally arrived home & took the pug out for a quick walk, I was ravenous!
Turkey bacon fail #2.
I had already planned to make this mac ‘n’ cheese, & since I didn’t use my turkey bacon last night, I had every intention of cooking up a few slices to throw into the mix. However, between the pasta-boiling, bread-crumb-making, & cauliflower-chopping, it must have totally slipped my mind! Just as I was piling the breadcrumbs on top of everything, I remembered my good intentions! Guess I’ll have to find yet another use for the turkey bacon!
Evening plans include lots of pug snuggling…
…& hopefully staying awake long enough to see my second-shift-working husband! (12:00AM is asking a lot on a Friday evening!)
Tomorrow, I’m planning on attending spin class, then doing a major clean of our apartment (it’s needed!).
Sunday, Chris & I are going to check out another potential house:
Pretty, right? Word has it there’s a fenced-in yard for you know who!
Are you a fan of bacon? Any ideas on how I can use up my stash of turkey bacon?
What are you doing this weekend?

I’m actually not a fan at all of bacon and I really tried to like turkey bacon but its just not my thing. House is gorgeous! Have a great weekend girl!

Cute shoes, i just bought a pair a couple of weeknds ago but still need another. Being pregnant and an extra 10-12 lbs makes a HUGE difference in the shoe department.
WOWZA!
…..What a pretty house!!!! Enjoy looking at that one!

I’ve only had turkey bacon once and I enjoyed it! I’ve never made it though – I bet it might be good chopped up with roasted brussels sprouts (I saw that in Cooking Light and have been wanting to try it ever since because I think it might make brussels sprouts taste okay to me… I don’t really like them).

Great idea! I only tried brussel sprouts for the first time within the last year. They’re ok; definitely not my favorite. But I’m sure some bacon could fix that!
ohhh i love a good turkey burger and those shoes are super cute! i actually had a salesperson tell me to go up a size in a dress because my “back fat” was bunching. definitely didnt tell the cashier that that particular salesperson helped me make any selections!!!

Ah! Can’t believe the lack of manners sometimes coming from people in the sales industry! Isn’t it part of the job to be polite & encourage people to buy what you’re selling?!
I love those shoes!!
