No Time to Spare
3 Apr
I’m sure we’ve all heard it before… There’s always something you can do to incorporate exercise into every, single day.
Well, I’m here to say that this is simply not the case; not for me, anyway!
I haven’t been to the gym since Saturday. That’s Sunday, Monday, Tuesday – no exercise.
I mentioned this a little bit last week, but I’ve been pretty “under the weather.” My stomach issues have changed to a full-fledged cold/allergy attack. Regardless (& miraculously!), I haven’t taken any time off of work.
Yes, this is my own choice, but we just finished up a quarter which means there are lots of things to do, papers & projects to grade, & loose ends to tie up.
In addition to my full-time job, which occupies my time from about 6:50AM-3:15PM every day, I’ve been occupied with work outside of work hours, various household tasks, & house-hunting appointments (yes, we’re back at it again).
The point of this post isn’t really to be a whiner or complainer. In fact, most of this is brought on myself.
What I did want to point out is that no matter how many articles/blogs/whatever tell you otherwise, sometimes there really isn’t time to spare – even 20 minutes – for a workout.
And with that, my rant is over & I’m going to go bury myself under the covers & try to make it through the last day before my 5 days off!
Agree or disagree? Feel free to disagree & share how you always manage to squeeze a workout in. Although I don’t know if I’ll share your viewpoints, especially after the past few days I’ve had!

I’m sorry your not feeling well I hope you feel better!

Agree with you Erica! Sometimes it’s best to use those ’20′ minutes as a means to hop into bed a bit earlier. The gym will always be there! Rest up.

I completely agree with you!! There are times when I would rather spend that 20 or 30 minutes getting caught up on things around the house (or reading blogs). I hope your last day before Easter break goes quickly!

When you don’t feel good, it is so hard to complete the rigorous tasks of daily life. I hear you, being a teacher and having work outside of work it tough and can make a HUGE difference- then you add life on top. ughhhh. tired.
Get through tomorrow and then kick back & take care of YOU! *hugs*

I agree – sometimes things are just too crazy busy to workout! And honestly I think if you aren’t feeling great – the workout wouldn’t be that great anyway so it’s worth getting better first
. Feel better and let me know if you need anything!
I completely agree. I hope you get to squeeze some “me time” in soon!

I think you could always make time, but at what cost? Sometimes, it not worth losing sleep by waking up early to squeeze in a workout. Sometimes, meeting up with friends for a drink feels healthier and better for me than going to the gym. I think you have to cut yourself some slack, sometimes, when workouts take the backseat to other priorities.

Love this comment! True, I certainly COULD HAVE worked out the past few days but it only would’ve made things worse for me & that’s totally counterproductive!
Sometimes there’s just not enough time in the day!! I swear by it! On those days, I make it a point to at least walk to class. It’s not even a half of a mile from my house to campus but it’s still something!

I totally agree! Sometimes life gets in the way and it’s OK to skip your workout!

5 days off? Yippee!!
And I totally agree– Sometimes “life” happens and you just don’t have the time to get moving! It is what it is, and I really admire you for being so passive about it!
