Max Brenner Philly
29 Jan
Hi everyone! I can’t wait to re-cap the amazing meal I had today, so let’s get to it!
Chris & I headed down to my parents house late this morning. Chris, me, my parents, Tyson (my sister’s boxer), & Jake (my parents’ new boxer puppy) piled into the car & headed down to my sister’s apartment in Philly. (My parents had been watching Corinne’s dog while she was away this week.) Of course, a few doggie pictures were snapped!
We were celebrating my sister’s 30th birthday a few days early (her actual birthday is the 31st). After getting the dogs settled, we headed to our lunch reservation at Max Brenner.
There were so many delicious options to choose from!
My sister & I shared an appetizer to start. We had the creamy spinach & artichoke fondue which came with warm, chili-dusted tortilla chips.
The chips definitely packed a little punch, but I have a very low tolerance for spicy foods & they weren’t too overwhelming for me. They definitely added an unexpected flavor.
Next up was our main meals. Chris’s meal came out first. He chose the Brenner burger which includes barbeque sauce, lettuce, tomato, & a Vidalia onion ring on top. My dad actually got the same thing too!
I went with the BEST B.A.L.T. – bacon, avocado, lettuce, & tomato with a cilantro-avocado mayo.
Complete with waffle fries dusted with chili & cocoa powder (which were so good).
Of course the part of the meal that stole the show was dessert!
My mom, sister, Chris, & I all opted to try different desserts while my dad passed entirely.
My mom chose the O.M.G. chocolate chunk cookie which was served with whipped cream, red berries, & pure melted chocolate.
How cute are these “paper plates”?!
Chris went with the s’mores concoction – marshmallow fluff, milk chocolate mousse, graham crackers, & caramelized bananas.
I picked the crystal sugar churros fondue which came with muddled raspberries, warm toffee sauce, & my choice of chocolate fondue (I picked milk chocolate).
And last but not least, the birthday girl picked the chocolate chunks pizza with “the works” on top (hazelnut bits, bananas, peanut butter, & roasted marshmallows.
The entire meal was so good, but definitely more indulgent than I’m used to on a typical Sunday afternoon!
Before heading back home, we snapped a few more pictures back at my sister’s place.
Jakey play time…
Tyson needs love too…
Sister shot…
Happy Birthday Corinne!
What’s your favorite chocolate dessert? I love having special desserts like this when I go out to eat, but my favorite chocolate dessert would probably be something basic like a peanut butter cup!

YUM!! I can’t believe I’ve never been to Max Brenner, especially since it is so close to where I used to live! Everything looks so delicious. I wouldn’t know what to order!!

I definitely had a hard time deciding! I almost just went with the hot chocolate because I had heard amazing things about it! So many options!
Oh wow! What an awesome lunch with your family. Those desserts looked out of this world! Which one was your favorite?! Those waffle fries look great too, extra crispy is the way I like mine for sure. Your sister and you look so much alike, just one brunette and one blonde! lol gorgeous!!

I really liked my dessert, but my sister’s was pretty awesome too! Plus she only ate one half of the pizza & was able to take home leftovers which I was sort of jealous of!
That’s funny that you say we look alike! Usually we get that we don’t really look alike. I take after my dad & she looks more like my mom. I definitely think we look like sisters in these pictures though!
I just found your blog and I love it! I was scrolling down and reading your 11 things about me post and realized you went to the University of Delaware and were in ASA. I’m currently a sophomore at U of D and am in AD Pi! Small world! Its the best university ever!:) I can’t wait to keep reading!:)

HOLY YUMMMMM! I’m glad you got to celebrate in such a special way with your sister! ……I would have loved to have tasted a bite or two from everyone’s plate! Chris’s sounds amazing, and the fact that you sister had leftovers to take home would have been the best part!

Thanks sister! It was such a fun afternoon and the lunch was delicious! Also thanks again for the beautiful bag, I already used it today
Ohh WOW everything looks delicious.. Happy Birthday to your sister!
Max Brenner is reeaally different here in Australia – it is filled with chocolate, and ONLY chocolate! Nothing like what you’ve had here, I’m very jealous!
All chocolate wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing! We joked that our lunches were just a hurdle we had to overcome in order to get to dessert!
I have been wanting to go to Max Brenner for a while now…maybe I’ll have a chance when I’m in NYC in a few weeks! Love those “paper plates.” So fun (and clever!). Last year, I went to Mexico and had the most amazing churros. I haven’t had any since, but now I’m craving them!!
