Cake Batter Overnight Oats

4 Jan

 Oh, yes. :-)

At the end of Monday’s post, I shared a few of my goals for the month of January, one of them being to add more variety to my breakfasts & lunches.

A while back (probably a year or so ago) I tried overnight oats, & I wasn’t a fan. In an effort to change-up my usual English muffin breakfast, though, I decided to give them another go using this recipe from Julie.

I gave it a try on Monday & actually really, really enjoyed them.

Cake batter overnight oats were born from my desire to eat cake 24/7 & find some excuse to add sprinkles to my first meal of the day! These are awesome & a must-try!

To make Cake Batter Overnight Oats, simply combine the following:

  • 2/3 c. old-fashioned oats
  • About 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 heaping tsp. vanilla Chobani
  • 2 heaping tsp. yellow cake mix

Mix well & let sit overnight; then, in the morning, add sprinkles!

I enjoyed this bowl of deliciousness with a cup of coffee sipped from my new Phillies Tervis (a Christmas gift from Chris).

Note the Phillies tissue box & Ryan Howard bobble head in the background, too!

Such a fun, delicious, & simple way to start the day! And think of all the possibilities… Chocolate cake mix! Red velvet cake mix! Funfetti cake mix! I hope Pillsbury has some coupons in this week’s paper. ;-)

Have you ever tried overnight oats? Are you a fan, or not so much? How do you make yours?

I love the Phillies Tervis! I was on an overnight oats kick over the summer, but I have been sticking to cereal and hot oatmeal recently. When I make overnight oats, I usually combine oats, milk, banana, vanilla protein powder, and PB, topped with granola. I like the sound of cake batter for breakfast, though! :)

Delicious way to start the day, I do agree! Mmmmmm! I also do some greek yogurt with a sprinkle of funfetti cake mix, it tastes like cake batter and really holds me over for a while.

That’s a great idea! I may just start sprinkling cake mix on everything I eat! ;-)

Never had overnight oats but this will change my mind. Buying cake mix ASAP to make this. I am legit drooling right now.

I wasn’t a big fan of overnight oats the first time either. I like making them with flavored yogurts rather than plain. These look absolutely awesome! I think I would like them with carrot cake mix.

That’s a great idea! My mom loves carrot cake, so I should suggest that to her!

Yum! I love overnight oats. This would be a great treat, but I gave up sugar for the month of January so they will have to wait!
