December Goals
4 Dec
I am definitely someone who likes to have goals set for myself. It helps to keep me motivated, especially when I’d much rather plop down on the couch & catch up with my DVR.
We may already be a few days into December, but I thought writing down my goals for the month might help me to actually stick to them!
Blog
- Post at least once every day.
I normally do this anyway, but there are a few days that I let slip by. Obviously, if I have nothing to say, I think it’s better to just not blog rather than ramble on about nothing. However, most of the days that I don’t blog, I’m just being lazy. This is time I really enjoy each day, so I want to be sure to make it a priority!
- Update the “About Me” page & create a wedding page.
I don’t think I’ve updated my About Me page since I started the blog, & it definitely needs some re-vamping. As far as creating a wedding page, I spent a lot of time writing wedding re-cap posts, & I’d like to organize them so that they can all be found in one spot!
Health & Fitness
- Maintain my current weight throughout the holidays.
I haven’t really talked about this much (yet!) but from the beginning of 2011 up until my wedding, I gradually lost about 10-12 lbs. The holidays are definitely a time for indulgence, & while I would never plan to lose weight throughout the next month, I want to make it a priority not to gain any of that weight back either!
- Strength train twice a week.
My main form of strength training is BodyPump. Lately, I’ve only been going to BodyPump about once a week. While it’s not always conducive to my schedule, I want to make an effort to attend class (or lift free weights) at least twice a week.
Life
- Get up on time (without hitting the snooze button repeatedly).
I am a major abuser of the snooze button (luckily Chris seems to sleep through it pretty well). In reality, an extra 5 or 10 minutes does nothing but make me run late in the morning. It may seem silly, but getting up as soon as my alarm goes off will hopefully lead to more peaceful, less hectic mornings.
- Complete Christmas shopping early!
My current goal is to get all of our shopping done by the week of 12/19, & be able to get everything wrapped & ready to go in the week leading up to Christmas. There’s nothing worse than rushing around in those last few days before the holiday when you’re supposed to be relaxing & gearing up for time with the family.
- Pray for someone/something new every day.
No explanation needed…
What are some of your December goals?

These are great goals! My main December goal is to relax and enjoy life instead of worrying all the time!
Oh and I might have to add the whole snooze button one too! It gets me every morning!
Less worrying is a great goal!
I absolutely stink at sticking to a strength training routine. i actually keep 5 lb weights by my tv and do them at commercials now because i just couldnt make myself do it any other way! i know its not much, but at least its something! i also like your goal to pray for something or someone new. I feel that praying is so important but sometimes i dont make it a priority. thanks for the reminder girl!
Every little bit counts! I might have to steal that trick… It’ll give me a reason to watch more tv!
My big December goal is to pass my boards!
And drink more water. I find myself drinking coffee all day long, especially when I am studying!
Good luck on passing your boards!
Love the idea of making al list of goals for the month! I’d say my goals are to continue to workout regularly (at least 5 times a week) and make a couple new recipes! I’ve been lacking in creating my own recipes for a while… :\
Creating new recipes is a good one!
Great goals!! I love your fitness ones especially!
I’d say my goal is to get up earlier and work out in the mornings. Last week I slept in 15 minutes every day and really didn’t do any workouts!!! My energy level was definitely lacking because of it.
Getting up early is so tough, but worth it!
I have the OPPOSITE problem with sleep. As soon as I wake up for anything, I practically leap out of bed. It sounds all fine and dandy until you find yourself waking up at 4:45 AM and not being able to go back to sleep! No bueno
I need to start putting my goals in writing. I think it will make me be more accountable than if they are just in my head. I am with you on the finishing the Christmas shopping and wrapping early. I normally am running around on Christmas eve.
Great goals! I know that you will be able to achieve each and every one of them, especially since they are in writing!
Great goals!
Looking forward to your wedding page!
These are great goals lady! I am soo with you on the sleeping one and holiday shopping! I always say I am going to get it done early and yeahhh it has yet to happen. Another goal of mine is to end my second to last semester as an undergrad with flying colors!
I really feel like I can relate to many of your goals! I think they are fantastic goals to have, especially the one about prayer. I often slack off in that area when I know that it is one of the most important aspects of life! I also feel like your goals are very attainable! Good luck to you!
Great post! My goals are very similar to yours, esp maintaining and including more strength training. I have a post like this coming out this week
Haha… I hear ya on the snooze button. I think I even set my alarm deliberately early so I can afford to hit it a few times.
My goals for december… hmm.. I guess get more sleep, eat more vegies, take my iron tablets… normal stuff.
Maybe I will start dong some pushups or situps?
Good idea setting goals!! I must get onto that!
