Friday Favorites

18 Nov

I never got around to blogging last night. Chris & I got some disheartening news about the house situation, so I spent the night pouting, BodyPumping, & eating my feeling in the form of a pumpkin pie Blizzard…

I’ll let you in on a little secret about me… I’m not the happiest camper when things don’t go my way. Anyone who knows me can attest to this, & it’s not a quality that I’m all that proud of. Who among us enjoys roadblocks though?! Anyway… there might be a little delay in the whole process, but we’ll get it figured out & I’m in much better spirits today! :-)

**********

I’m thinking of starting a weekly series called “Friday Favorites,” in which I list products (kitchen tools, new-to-me food items, beauty products, clothing, etc.) that I’m currently “eyeing up.”

I’m pretty well taken care of in the kitchen supplies department since my bridal shower was just a few months ago, but there are still some items that I’ve been dying to get my hands on!

This week’s Friday Favorites post is dedicated to a company that makes some of my favorite products… OXO!

Bakeware

Good Cookie” Spatula

Ok, ok… I don’t exactly need another spatula, but how cute is this?! Plus, the festive green color just happens to be appropriate for a certain upcoming holiday!

Mixing Bowl Set – Assorted Colors

I’m up to my eyeballs in Pyrex, & I’d love to have a set of non-glass mixing bowls!

Food Storage

POP Containers

1165600

I first saw these containers used on the Hungry Girl television show & I’ve been dying to try them out myself ever since! According to the OXO website

“The Containers have a unique push-button mechanism that creates an airtight seal with just one touch. The button also serves as a handle to lift off the lid. The Containers are designed for modular stacking so that you can efficiently organize your countertop and pantry.”

Beverages

French Press – 4 Cup

I’ve recently become intrigued with making coffee using a French press! The OXO product description explains that their French press is superior for it’s easy clean-up. I hate doing dishes, so sign me up!

**********

As for the rest of my evening… I’m planning on heading off to the gym in a little bit (it’s always totally dead on a Friday night) & possibly trying to convince Chris to order take-out. I’ve also been waiting for some free time to make these cookies, & tonight may be the night. Tomorrow, I’ve got a hair/nail appointment bright & early at 8AM! My roots are embarrassing!

Hope everyone’s weekend gets off to a good start!

What are some of your current “favorites”? Do you have an OXO products?

I’m a coffee lover, but have never used a French press. How is it different from a coffeemaker?

I believe it’s supposed to make the coffee more flavorful/stronger? So I suppose if you don’t like really strong coffee then there’s not much of a difference.

A pumpkin pie Blizzard would definitely help me feel better, too! :) I’ve never made coffee with a French press! I’m sure I would love it. Have a good weekend!

      The Blizzard was fabulous! :-)

I have that french press. It’s awesome! The coffee comes out so much better than a drip pot.

Today I had a meeting out of town, and passed about 5 DQ’s on the way. It took everything I had not to stop for a blizzard. Good thing I had NO CLUE they had a pumpkin pie flavore, because there is no way I could have resisted.

It was really good! The only thing stopping me from eating the entire thing was that they only had the “good stuff” (pieces of pie crust) at the top. Once I got through that it was just plain ice cream & I wasn’t as into it! haha

Sorry to hear that things didn’t go as planned with the house. :( Hope today was so much better!

It was a little bit of a bummer, but we’re not giving up hope! :-)

Sorry for the bad news! I am bad at bouncing back from disappointing news, as well! However, those pumpkin pie blizzards are AMAZING! If you are going to drown you sorrows–that is a good way!

It did make me feel better! :-)

I have OXO pop ups and I love them! However, don’t try to pick them up by the lid- you’ll spill four allllllll over yourself and the entire kitchen. They are super handy, and I love seeing how much of something is left and knowing what I have. Good thing to have in the kitchen for sure!

Oh, and I’m super bummed to hear that your night last night didn’t go all that great. Hope things look up!

    • 4thesakeofcake November 20, 2011 at 8:45 am #

I’ll have to pick a few up! I always see them at Target, so maybe I’ll just have to cave soon!

So sorry about the house situation. I’m glad you are in a better move today. Nothing about house hunting is fun… you just have to keep your eye on the prize and suffer through the process. I love my Pop containers. I highly recommend them.

They’re getting rave reviews, so I might have to give them a try!

I love the green spatula..it matches my kitchen! Blizzards can always make anything seem better!

    • 4thesakeofcake November 20, 2011 at 8:46 am #

I thought the spatula was cute too! :-)

We might be a lot of the same person…I have way too many spatulas, love for pumpkin pie blizzards and am wanting the storage containers and a french press too!
