I Didn’t Realize

I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! If you’re catching up from the weekend, here’s what you missed on For the Sake of Cake!
- A product review of a gopicnic pre-packaged lunch
- A last ditch effort to hold on to summer
- A family dinner with some cute doggie pics

I’ve been so gung-ho about the farmers market lately, that I didn’t realize everything sold there wasn’t super-cheap… whoops!
Last week, I spotted some tilapia filets & thought “how expensive can they be?” Well, the answer was $10.00 for two. So while I didn’t make the most economic meal, you get what you pay for & this was some tasty fish!
I first tried my hand at tilapia a few weeks ago (purchased at the grocery store) & Chris & I both loved it.
This time around, I tried a Hungry Girl preparation–Parmed-Up Broiled Tilapia.
I followed the recipe pretty closely; the only change I made was subbing garlic salt for onion salt.
On the side, I served up what I had left of my Trader Joe’s Harvest Grain Blend (love this stuff).
Chris & I both really loved this meal; another tilapia success! The parmesan coating was absolutely delicious & I’d imagine you could use it on any type of white fish you prefer!

Now I’m off to work on some stuff for school, perhaps some grad work, & cuddle time with this little boy:
Have you ever tried any Hungry Girl recipes?
How often do you eat fish?

Yep, especially her drink recipes! —Her low cal drinks inspire me and they are delicious!
…Yah, all farmers market treats aren’t cheap, but you are supporting local so that makes it a win-win!!!
True! And they were delicious!
I totally just had a similar realization about Farmer’s Markets…sometimes things are WAY expensive! I find that food stands at local farms are far cheaper!
I have tried a handful of Hungry-Girl recipes, but it has been a while since I have perused the site. It was getting a little too “processed”/ “artificial sugar” happy for my tastes. However, they may have took a turn for REAL Foods lately! Your fish looks yummy!
I totally agree! She uses a ton of processed stuff… No thanks!
Hungry Girl has some GREAT recipes! She’s the one who taught me about shiritaki noodles
But like the commenter said above me, I’m not crazy about her love for cool whip :/
I figured that’s where you found out about them!
I completely agree; I think she has great ideas, but I don’t necessarily want to eat all of that processed food!
