After School Snacks
7 Sep
For some reason, I always seem to be ravenous after a day at school work!
Throughout the past week, I’ve been trying out a few new, simple after school snacks that take the edge off my hunger, fuel me through an early-evening workout, & keep me happy until dinner time. Plus, they couldn’t be any easier to make & barely take any “assembly.”
Easy
Banana Nutella Smoothie
I saw this recipe on Katie’s blog last week & made my own version just a few short days later!
The changes I made included:
- Subbing a frozen banana for one that wasn’t, but adding ice instead.
- Using Nutella (1 tbsp.) + 1 tbsp. of peanut butter.
- No peanut butter cup cookie dough (I didn’t have the ingredients on hand to make it).
It turned out deliciously, & definitely hit the spot after a long day at work!

A New Take of Apples & Peanut Butter
Last school year, I totally rocked the apple slices & peanut butter combo nearly every day after school. Well since meeting my my new friend, I decided to change things up. Now, I’m all about the apple slices & Nutella.
It doesn’t get much simpler than that! …or does it?
Easiest
Hummus + Dippers
I fell in love with hummus about two years ago when I was living by myself in my first apartment. Then hummus & I had sort of a falling out (aka I got sick of eating it everyday) & I haven’t had any for over a year!
During my Trader Joe’s trip on Friday, I picked up some hummus & a bag of “everything” pretzel chips.
Somehow, Trader Joe’s managed to cram the flavor of an everything bagel into a teeny, tiny pretzel chip. Add that to the tasty 3-layer hummus, & you’ve got yourself a quick & easy snack!
What were your favorite after school snacks as a kid?

LOL Nutella was one of my favorite snacks when I was little
. I loved Nutella sandwiches. People thought I was strange… I bet those same people are eating Nutella now
.
It is so, so delicious!
