Even though I love to bake, there are many instances where I’m pressed for time and need to come up with a baked good quickly. For instance, this week I had to make something for a bake sale at work, but we all know free time is limited on week nights. Enter: Oreo brownies!
This is my go-to when I need to product something yummy—that tastes like it could be homemade—in a pinch.
I simply bake the brownies according to the package instructions. If I’m making them more than 1 day in advance of when they’ll be consumed, I try to undercook them a little bit to keep them “fresh tasting.” (I will not use the word moist… whoops, I guess I just did.)
I also mix about 1/2 cup Oreo pieces into the batter, but this is optional. After the brownies have cooled, top them with frosting—I think vanilla works particularly well—and additional crushed Oreos. For this week’s batch, I used birthday cake Oreos because I have yet to find anything quite as delicious as those little gifts from God.
These taste great and don’t seem like a “shortcut sweet” at all!
