What has Changed

Two quick announcements before tonight’s post!

I haven’t touched on my new job much, so I thought I’d take tonight’s post to share some of the ways my “day to day” has changed since leaving teaching and entering the “business world.” (<— I feel goofy saying that!)

#1 – I get to “sleep in.”


I set tons of alarms.

When I was teaching, I was up around 5:00AM every day. Now, I’m able to get an extra half hour/45 minutes. Unfortunately, this just means I’m staying up later at night… gotta change that!

#2 – I’ve had to alter my workout schedule.


Still making it to BodyPump!

I’ve gone from leaving work at 3:00PM to not heading out ‘till 4:30PM. I couldn’t make a few of my favorite group exercise classes, but then my gym ending up taking them off the schedule anyway. At least now I don’t feeling like I’m missing out!

I still usually make it to classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, it just requires a little more rushing around.

I’ve also added a rest day during the week. It gives me a chance to “take a breath” and catch up on things around the house.

#3 – I’ve needed to use more willpower.

Candy Dish

Haven’t broken out the candy corn this year… yet!

Two words – candy. dish. I have a candy dish out on my desk (for others!) and it’s sometimes always difficult not to steal a piece (or 5). I actually plan on doing an entire post dedicated to healthy living in an office, so look for that sometime soon!

#4 – I’m less stressed.


Goodbye, grading!

Even though my days still feel busy, it’s such a relief to not be bogged down with essay grading, lesson planning, and grad work. My nights and weekends are mine!

Overall, the changes have been positive, with the exception of #3. I mean, having willpower is a good thing, but I can’t say I’ve mastered it quite yet! 😉

      I wish I had enough time to squeeze in an AM workout but I am the SLOWEST person ever in the morning and it just won’t happen.

    I’m working on adjusting my day-to-day schedule to allow for more study time. Started waking up at 6am this week ahead of CCIE bootcamp so I can get done all the stuff around the house that I usually do in the evening. Only snoozed twice this morning, so making progress!

    I wake up at 5 almost every morning to hit the gym before work! I definitely learned my lesson about the candy jar ha ha! Having it within reach can definitely be dangerous, but avoiding the sugar headaches in the afternoon helps me to stay strong! It took time to realize it wasn’t worth it though lol!

      YES!!!!! I’m finally getting it… like, DO NOT TOUCH THE CANDY. lol As soon as I go for one piece I become totally unhinged and I always regret it later!
