Happy New Year everyone!
Last night, Chris & I spent NYE at his parents’ house, enjoying good food & good company. I didn’t snap any photos, but it was a fun night! (As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I made fig & blue cheese tarts to bring to the celebration, using a recipe I found on the Pillsbury website.)
We didn’t stay too late, & were fast asleep by about 1:30AM.
I woke up at about 8:30AM & wearily headed off to the gym. I debated if I even wanted to go, assuming it would be super crowded. To my (pleasant) surprise, it wasn’t crowded at all! I guess all of the people making New Year’s resolutions will probably start tomorrow?
After the gym, I returned home, ate a quick breakfast (eggs + toast) & got ready to head up to my aunt & uncle’s house. As I was getting ready, I snapped these pictures of a certain pug:
He’s certainly living a comfortable lifestyle! 😉
For our New Year’s Day meal, we had the traditional pork & sauerkraut. I only had a few strands of sauerkraut (stolen from Chris’s plate!) because it’s just not my thing. (It’s on top of the pork, in case you’re wondering!) I also had a heaping portion of mashed potatoes (which definitely is my thing), applesauce & two dinner rolls! (My plate is a little beige, since I opted to skip the available peas.)
Dessert wasn’t far behind! I split a canoli with Chris, & enjoyed a small slice of key lime pie.
I also went back for a piece of apple pie & a scoop of Neapolitan ice cream, so now I’m experiencing a sugar coma similar to last week’s post-Christmas feelings!
I’m lucky enough to have one more day off of work tomorrow, but I have several things I want to accomplish – an early-morning spin class, grocery shopping, preparing to go back to work, & starting a new book that I purchased for my Nook (11/22/63 by Stephen King to feed my Kennedy obsession).
I hope everyone’s 2012 is off to a great start!
