All Good Things…

Well, all good things must come to an end & my Thanksgiving break is quickly coming to a close. It was so nice to have Monday off though. Everyone is always a fan of a 3-day weekend, but I’d always prefer to have a Monday off instead of a Friday. It just feels like I need one more day to finish up everything from the weekend!

First thing this morning, I headed off to the gym & completed a quick 45 minutes on the elliptical, varying my resistance. This is my go-to cardio workout! I wanted to take a spin class this morning, but I didn’t want to get up to be at the 6:00AM one, & I had a doctor’s appointment in the late-morning, which meant I couldn’t go to the 9:15AM class, so the elliptical it was!

After I came home & showered, I whipped up some breakfast to satisfy my grumbling tummy. One of my favorite things about having a weekday off of work is having time to prepare a real, not rushed, breakfast!

1 egg + 1 egg white, scrambled with a  Thomas’ Cranberry English Muffin topped with butter & strawberry jelly. Of course, a cup of coffee was served on the side.

After breakfast, it was time to head off to my appointment at the ear, nose, & throat doctor for a follow-up on my dizziness. He couldn’t really do much for me today, but he’s sending me for an MRI (I go on Thursday) & also for vestibular rehabilitation.

What is vestibular rehabilitation, you ask?

“Vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) is an exercise-based program designed to promote central nervous system compensation for inner ear deficits. VRT can help with a variety of vestibular problems, including benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and the unilateral or bilateral vestibular hypofunction (reduced inner ear function on one or both sides) associated with Ménière’s disease, labyrinthitis, and vestibular neuritis. Even individuals with long-term unresolved inner ear disorders who have undergone a period of medical management with little or no success may benefit. VRT can also help people with an acute or abrupt loss of vestibular function following surgery for vestibular problems.” (source)

I go for my first appointment on Thursday afternoon, so we’ll see how it goes!

After the doctor, I made a quick pit-stop at Target before coming home to google “is an MRI scary?” get some Christmas shopping done!

I spent a good portion of my afternoon scouring the internet for deals & actually bought a ton of stuff. And, now that I think of it, I don’t think I purchased anything without some sort of discount code… score!

I also squeezed in a little more Christmas decorating.

Here’s a picture of the wreath I purchased yesterday at HomeGoods (it was $20!).

I purchased a small container of mini-ornaments at Target today & filled small glass containers with them after seeing the idea on Pinterest!

The ornaments were only $5 (enough to fill two glass jars) & the jars were leftover from the candy buffet at our wedding, so this was a relatively inexpensive decoration to quickly pull together.

**********

Yesterday, when I stopped by my parents’ house, I noticed they had sausage cooking in their slow-cooker. I immediately stole their idea, & had the exact same thing for dinner tonight!

I purchased some sweet Italian turkey sausages at the grocery store yesterday & all I did was place them in the slow-cooker, cover them with a jar of garden vegetable sauce, & let them cook for about 5 hours!

On the side, I served up some Alexia sweet potato tater tots. I’m normally a fan of Alexia products, but these were almost too sweet for me! I think I’ll stick with the sweet potato waffle fries from now on.

Now, it’s time to finish up the last little bit of laundry & get mentally prepared for the week ahead (read: get ready to watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills). Have a great night! :-)

Have you ever had an MRI? Should I be scared?!

I had an MRI and I didn’t think it was scary. The tube is very small and the machine is very loud. They may offer you music to listen to while they do the test. Stay very still so they get a clear picture. You will be fine and good luck!

Luckily, the good deals usually continue throughout the month of December so you should still be able to get some good online shopping in!

I had an MRI done. I am extremely claustrophobic and it didn’t go very well for me, but that was like 20 years ago and they have come along way :-). I am positive that you will be fine! Good luck :-). Make sure you let us know how you made out. Btw I love the ornament jar :-). Your wreath is pretty too.

That’s why I’m nervous! I wouldn’t say I’m “extremely” claustrophobic, but I am somewhat & I get all worked up for any kind of medical test to begin with!

I had to get a cat scan for the first time recently. I was really nervous leading up to the procedure but it was for nothing! I had a wonderful nurse who walked me through everything and even offered to hold my hand!

I forgot how much I love cranberry English muffins. I definitely am going to pick some up next time I head to the grocery store.

I had a cat scan done earlier this year & that wasn’t so bad but for the MRI you have to be in an enclosed space so I’m not too keen on that!

Cranberry English muffins are amazing! I have two packs in my freezer! haha

Don’t worry about the MRI.. its not too bad. You get to listen to music and just lay still..Ahh relaxing ;). You are in a tiny tube feeling space but the bottom by ur feet is open and by your head. I can explain it before you go. :)

I was excited to get so many good deals! Until I looked at the clock & realized I had been shopping for like 3 hours! haha
